Performance of Bill Thompson’s dismantle for laptop (solo)

Scrapclub was started by Wajid Yaseen and Joel Cahen in 2007 and has seen 12 incarnations so far. The events take place on a somewhat quarterly basis, usually in London but on occasion elsewhere (Newcastle, Amsterdam etc.), and generally involves the destruction of used items by audience members as well as performances by sound artists, performance artists, DJs, and percussionists. In this incarnation, I premiered a new work dismantle for laptop (solo) in which I accompanied the mayhem over the course of approximately four hours. For more information about the events, how to participate, as well as links to past events, photos, videos and rationale, visit the Scrapclub site.

Also published in this issue is Bill Thompson’s related article, “Scrapyard Aesthetics and the Swansong of the Inspiron.”
